Kausani is not much famous but a beautiful hill station, located in Kumaon hills of Uttaranchal state, India. It is situated at 6075 ft above from the sea level, this small and peaceful hill resort is known for its unspoilt natural beauty and 300 km-wide views of the Himalayan snow-peaks. A famous poet of India Sumitra Nandan Pant was born here; she called this place  "Switzerland of India" for its beauty. The place also holds importance because Mahatma Gandhi stayed here for a long stretch in 1929.

Kausani experiences snowfall during the months of December and January, thus summer time would be better to visit. You can plan a tour during winter, if you want to enjoy of snowfall. You can enjoy the endless stretch of famous peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nandakot.

Adventure Sports: Kausani offers some beautiful treks for trekking where tourist can enjoy the adventure sports. There are some good treks for adventure seekers like Bageshwar Sundardhunga Trek, Adi Kailash Trek and the Base Kausani Trek.

Baijnath: It is 16 Kms away from Kausani, a famous temple town at the bank of Gomati river in the Garuda Valley. In this temple complex the main attraction is the black stone idol of Parvati at the main entrance. Though fishing is strictly prohibited within the campus. A Kali temple is located 8km from Baijnath known as Kot-ki-mai.

By Air: The nearest airport is Pant Nagar, which is 180 Kms from Kausani. Taxis are available from here to Kausani.

By Train: Kathgodam is the nearest railway station, which is 142 Kms from here.

By Road: It is well connected with all major cities and other hill stations like Ranikhet, Almora etc. Buses are available from Delhi.
